THERE WHEN YOU NEED US
Welcome! The men and women of Warren County Fire Services take great pride in their efforts to protect and educate the citizens of Warren County, Mississippi. "WCFS" is made up of the five completely volunteer fire districts across the county. It is lead by the fire chiefs of each department and an elected executive board.
About us
Warren county has a total area of 619 square miles (1,600km2), of which 589 square miles (1,530 km2) is land and 30 sqaure miles (78 km2) is water. The county exists in two sections, connected only by a narrow 500ft wide section between Madison Parish, Louisiana and Issaquena County, Mississippi along the delta of the Yazoo River. This area was once along the Mississippi River, but has since become an oxbow lake and marsh and no roads traverse this strip of land.
Historically, a group of community citizens concerned with protecting thier homes and community against the ravages of fire got together and formed the first volunteer fire department in the county. From the first, five more departments were started in the surrounding communities of the county in which one has now been combined to create District 2. Each departments were independently ran relying on on the members of that community.
Northeast Fire Department has been combined to District 2
District 2 is formely known as Culkin Fire Department
District 3 is formely known as Fisher-Ferry Fire Department
District 4 is formerly known as Bovina Fire Department
District 6 is formerly known as LeTourneau Fire Department
District 7 is formerly known as Eagle Lake Fire Department
In early 2021, the fire chiefs of each department along with the county fire coordinator met to discuss the alarmingly low amount of active members each department were facing. In an effort to alleviate this problem to best suit the citizens of the county, Warren County Fire Services was formed, a collaborative effort for all county firefighters to help and assist the citizens of the county across individual department district lines. Warren County Fire Services is managed by an elected executive board, and each of the 5 fire District chiefs as voting representives for thier districts.
